Lunchroom

Students living within reasonable distance of the school are encouraged to return home for lunch where feasible. Lunch Supervisors are hired staff on duty throughout the lunch break to supervise the students. These supervisors are agents of the Board and have the same authority as a teacher. Students are provided with time to eat their lunch and clean up their eating area. All students then go outside and are expected to remain on the school grounds during lunch recess.

 

If your child will be staying at the school during the lunch break then please complete a Lunch-Time Supervision Service Form . The fees cover the cost of the lunch supervisor staff.

Well-planned and effectively implemented school wellness programs can help students to achieve greater mental and physical health. At Sakaw School, we are committed to promoting a healthy school environment by supporting and emphasizing student mental wellness, good nutrition, and regular physical activity.

The consumption of gum, candy, soft drinks and "junk food" is not encouraged in the school or on the playground. We encourage parents to support our efforts and not include such foods in students’ lunches.‌
