Starting on February 3, 2020, we will accept registrations for kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. Children who are five years old on or before December 31, 2020 may register in Kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year. The Alberta government changed the entry age for students registering in Kindergarten, beginning in the 2020-21 school year. Along with a Student Registration form, we also require a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a copy of a bill or mortgage/lease agreement with your name and current address. Parents can provide an AM or PM Kindergarten Class preference at the time of registration; we cannot guarantee AM/PM preferences - we will confirm AM/PM placement by May 8, 2020 for all of the registrations up to that date.
Kindergarten Open House - Monday, April 6, 2020
Parents and kindergarten students are invited to come to our Kindergarten Open House on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We will introduce our staff, visit our Kindergarten classroom, share programming and support information about Kindergarten, and answer any questions!
New to Edmonton Public Schools Grade 1 to 6:
If your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you'll need to complete a Student Registration form to register at Sakaw School for 2020-2021. Students are guaranteed entry to Sakaw School if they are in our designated attendance areas. Students outside of our designated attendance areas may register at Sakaw School prior to April 15, but they may not be accepted if we do not have available space.
Pre-Enrolment for Current Edmonton Public Schools Students - Kindergarten to Grades 5:
For students currently attending Sakaw School or another Edmonton Public School, between 9 a.m. on March 9 and 4 p.m. on April 15, 2020, parents need to sign in to SchoolZone to select their child's preferred school for the 2020-2021 school year.
Note: Sakaw School will not have a Pre-Kindergarten classroom next year.
Pre-Kindergarten is for children aged three and four. To be eligible, children need to meet criteria, such as having mild/moderate developmental delays, severe developmental delays, be identified as a First Nations, Metis, Inuit student or be identified as an English Language Learner.
